Experience

We recognized the usefulness of the S&S Couplers as soon as they appeared, and have used them in more applications than any other company.  Our experience and skill gives us the ability to work with most frame configurations and tubing.  We use low temperature silver brazing, the method of choice for producing the strongest coupled bikes.

Skill

We vary the position and orientation of the couplers depending on the frame size and geometry. We also hand work the shape of the coupling lugs to suit the style of the frame they are being fitted to.  The stainless steel classic couplers we use are beautiful - one customer wrote us "The couplers have been mistaken for fancy.......Italian lugs!" We are convinced that installing couplers is another way to add beauty to a quality frame.

Cables and Braze-ons

When retrofitting a bike, we recommend quick disconnects for the gear cables, which allows you to use all your current braze-ons. An option is to re-route all the cables along the top tube using split cable stops, which keeps the cables together and thus easier to handle when packing the bike.

Finish Work

We can touch up or completely repaint your frame for you.  We do anything from simple repaints to complete restorations (recreating your bike's original looks).  Frames may be either painted or powder coated.  In all cases, the couplers are polished to a beautiful finish.
